Remember those signs that the Kansas Union wanted us to make?--In addition to the ones they agreed to let us hang up for our project? WELL. . . . when my group and I brought all of our laminated, finished work up to the Marketing office and shared it with the Director. . . (to cut to the chase), we got our $h!t handed to us, kindly of course, lol.... but it was a major eye opener to a lot of different aspects of the professional world... and the lack of freedom we actually have. For instance, the Jayhawk i found on google images is not the NEWEST version (the KU is in a diff font), no purple is allowed anywhere-- not even for a legend on a map, KU signs have to have all the same font, they should all be the same color for designated areas, parking lots are referred to by lot number, and somehow we misspelled a word? Anyways all of these things he noticed within like a minute so YEAH.... that's that. It was a good learning experience and I know I certainly won't ever overlook the regulations a place might have or other basic common sense things again.....
On the other side of things, the University's Sign Regulations are kind of disappointing because it limits creativity for actual changes that could be helpful for wayfinding. BUT...for our project's purpose, everything we did is just fine (minus the type-o) although it does make since not to have purple anywhere on KU's stuff.... heck, I don't even wear purple on campus. . . . should have thought of that one!
